Welcome Skippers! Saltspring Island Sailing Club has good news for all our racing friends in 2022. After a two-year hiatus during Covid precautions, the Round Saltspring Race returns this year for our 49th race around the rock!

It’ll be a full weekend of racing, hospitality, social events, food, live music and great prizes – with a couple of twists. By popular request, we’re testing out a “skipper’s choice” course direction this year, clockwise or anticlockwise.

Registration will open and Notice of Race will be posted by Mid-March. Food tickets and race wear will go on sale soon after. We can’t wait to see you again for the return of the “Coast’s Favourite Regatta”!

In Memory of Roger Aubin 1966 – 2019

  • Over the course of its 49 year history, the race has become a favourite amongst all competitors. The race and all the on shore activities are superbly well organized by an army of friendly volunteers making everything run like clockwork, including a complex recycling system that helps the regatta meet their Clean Marine commitments. The fleet of up to 120 yachts enjoys some highly challenging sailing given the aggressive tidal patterns that ebb and flow around Salt Spring Island. It is scheduled for May long weekend, so the weather is pretty nice more often than not and there is definitely a holiday atmosphere amongst the hundreds of sailors that flock to the island for the race. And there's even a lamb BBQ involved!
